Phase 2: Blog 11

A very stout blonde squaw stepped across the threshold and stood looking at the strangers, starting incredulously, her mouth open. Lenina noticed with disgust that two of the front teeth were missing... It was worse than the old man. So fat. And all the lines in her face, the flabbiness the wrinkles.... (119)

I find it very different but unfair how one small population of the world has the advantages of science, while the people outside of the community has to suffer the natural consequences. The fortunate people live in a closed bubble and they know nothing else outside of their community. When Lenina sees the natural people, she is scared by them and it's something new to her. These people live selfishly and they know of nothing more but themselves. They are self centered selfish people. I find it unfair how only a small portion of the population is able to have all these luxurious things while the rest suffers. It should be all equal, and everyone should have the same advantages.

“But its horrible,” said Lenina, shrinking back from the window. She was appalled by the rushing emptiness of the night, by the black foam-flecked water having beneath them, by the pale face of the moon, so haggard and distracted among the hastening clouds. “Lets turn on the radio. Quick!” She reached for dialing knob on the dashboard and turned it at random. (90)

The people of the community aren't allowed to have any time to themselves. They aren't suppose to have a second to think. They must be active all the time, and they can not have any peace. This is because they aren't allowed to have a mind of their own, and they can not have individual thoughts. It should be a natural right that one should be able to have time for themselves, and time to relax. They should be able to to think and express their thoughts and speak their minds. Too bad the community is based on science, and they are brainwashed by the Director and his orders. These people are raised materialistic that they don't know the definition of happiness. They think these things are the success to happiness. They are brainwashed by society, and they don't know any better. The Director has influenced them into thinking materials equal happiness. It's unfair how one's thoughts is all of their thoughts.

Phase 2: Blog 9

“Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do., because they’re so frightfully clever. I’m really awfully glad I’m  Beta, because I don’t work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don’t want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They’re too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I’m so glad I’m beta. (27)

It's ridiculous how certain parts of the caste wears different colors to show a distinction. It's so materialistic of them, and it's really shallow to identify the people by the color they wear. This reminds of me racism. Thankfully we've overcame the difference in skin color, and we realize how ignorant it is, and that we are equally capable of doing everything. These people are identify one another and judging them by the color have on when it shouldn't be like that. They should all question why is this happening, and overcome it as a whole and end the Director's powers. The worse is these are words of a young child. We would expect a young child to think that shallow, but it's not only the child, it's the entire community that thinks this way. The people in their community are causing the inequality amongst each other.

Phase 2: Blog 8

“We can electrify that whole strip of floor,” bawled the Director in explanation. “But that’s enough,” he signaled to the nurse... The stiffly twitches bodies relaxed, and what had become the sob and yelp of infant maniacs broadened out once more into a normal howl of ordinary terror. (20)

The Director directs the nurses to electrify the floor to scare and harm the babies that way they know not to look at books or come near books. The Director uses Pavlov's and Skinner's idea to  train the babies to stay away from books, that way they aren't intellectual and so they will only stay in their class and not move to the next. It's unfair for one to not have the opportunity to change their life. They're life is determined and set for them, there's no way of changing it. The worst is, they're being taught so young, and they are purposely being hurt. They're way too young to be learning anything and it's considered abuse. Unfortunately, these people don't see their wrong doings. No one has the morals to be realizing that this is wrong. They are seriously hurting these helpless innocent, infants.

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

"Reducing the number of revolutions per minutes," Mr. Foster explained. "The surrogate goes round slower; therefore passes through the lung at longer intervals; therefore gives the embryo less oxygen. Nothing like oxygen-shortage for keeping an embryo below par." Again he rubbed his hands.

"But why do you want to keep the embryo below par?" asked an ingenuous student.

"Ass!" said the Director, breaking a long silence. "Hasn't it occurred to you that an Epsilon embryo must have an Epsilon environment as well as an Epsilon hereidity?" (13)

In the society of Brave New World people were automatically born into a social class. The class that you are born into is decided by the Director's decision. Depending on what he decides to do to the embryo, that's what the individual will be born into. In this case, the Director decides to limit the oxygen, that way the babies are born into the class of retardation, which is the lowest status in the caste. It's unfair how their lives are left to be decided by one person, and this one person has total control of the future generations. It should've been left up to be decided by fate or by chance. But in their community, they believe in science over religion. There is no religion, morals, or values in their community. The people of the community are so drawn into science that they don't see what is wrong with making unfortunate babies. They allow for it to happen without stopping it. It's like communism, where one person takes control and the rest follows the orders. It's unfair for one's future to be decided by a crazy scientist.

Phase 2: Blog 6

No one knows how it happens. No one know how it's done. The harvesting of Unwinds is a secret medical ritual that stays within the walls of each harvesting clinic in the nation. In this way it is not unlike death itself, for no one knows what mysteries lie beyond those secret doors, either. Page 287

These people should have the right to know where they are sending their children to and what is going to happen to their children. It's unfair, how the government are hiding it. Only if they were able to know what goes on during the harvesting clinic then they wouldn't unwind their children. Too bad these people are controlled and brain washed by the government that they don't question anything. They just follow and do what they are asked of. The parent's and children should all have equal rights, rights to know what is going to happen to their children and what is going to happen to themselves. Humans should have the right to make decisions and have the knowledge and know the consequences of their actions !

Phase 2: Blog 5

She hurries to the old man. A stethoscope brings barely a sound from his chest cavity. Turning to the medical staff around her, she says, "Stabilize him, and prep him for transplant." Then she turns back to the kids. "You're lucky you landed at the hospital with a heart bank, or we'd end up having to medevac him across town." Page 254

When the kids brought the old man to the hospital, the doctor immediately thinks of a heart transplant. That's the first thing that she suggests is transplanting a heart. It's unfair how the people of this community are unwinding children for body parts to store. They are killing children to store up hearts and other organs, they have a bank. They don't even need it, they're just storing it away just in case if they do need it. This society is corrupted and they don't realize it. Just because it's the law to unwind children, doesn't mean that it's the right thing to do. These people must go against what they are told, and question it and not just follow orders. It's their own blooded child that is being taken away and being taken apart for someone else to use. In our current society, there are shortages of donors and people do pay a lot for donors. So in the future, this could possibly be a solution of shortages of donors. It is a way for parents to get rid of their responsibility and it's also a way to save other people's lives, people who are "more worthy" of living.
