The Future Stuck in the Present

"Phil of the Future" is a Disney show that presents a family that is from the future stuck in the present. We are able to see a huge difference between the people from the future and the people from the present. All the technology that is used for the simple things are ridiculous. People are so lazy that they have everything at the tip of their finger tips. Phil has these cool gadgets that helps him paint a whole house within a click of a button. He is able to do so much in so little time just by a click. The people from the future compared to the people from the current time are much more intelligent and this is a positive aspect of the future. This only depicts us people as lazy, because in the future we no longer need to do anything by hand. Everything is made simple and done for us but this could result in stupidity of simple things.

Do Not Trust..

In 2035, the world will be controlled by robots. Robots are replicates of humans and can do everything humans can and even better. In I, Robot featuring Will Smith the human race are taken over by the robot race and this is all because we trust them. We depend on them, we use them, and they betrayed us. As of right now, humans already depend on technology too much. So imagine what the future would be like. We will use technology for everything possible, even for simple tasks. This depicts our current society as dependent on technology and lazy. We become so vulnerable that we don't have doubts about technology and one day, it will go against us. The director of this movie only wants to hint at the negatives of technology and what it may do to us in the future. It will become so powerful and strong that it may take over human kind. Even today, we can not function without a phone or a computer. Without it, we are lost and unable to do anything.

Average Person is Considered the Smartest

In "Idiocracy", the average person on earth is considered to be a genius/smartest person in the world centuries later. It's funny because this is sort of true. As time goes by, the younger and younger generations get more and more lazy due to technology. Even today, teen pregnancy happen a lot younger that what it used to be 20 years ago. Children are playing in video games, and spending all their time on a computer or phone. They use a calculator to do simple addition and subtraction problems. Me, myself, I need a calculator beside me while I'm doing a math test or else I will not feel comfortable.

This movie portrays the topic of environment, and how our environment is infested with technology. These technology are made to help us not to make us dumb. The average person during our period is considered to be the smartest person in the world years later. This movie wants to present that the human kind's knowledge and education are declining due to technological advancements and that we need to realize this sooner.

Utopia or Dystopia

In the book titled "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, the author illustrates the future as a utopian society. The Giver is the one person that is able to see the reality of the world while the rest of the people are blinded and living the perfect life. It all goes wrong when the receiver which is Jonas decides to go against the tradition and rebels. He reveals the truth to the people. This book proves that there is no such thing as a utopian society. All the negatives are part of life, and that is what makes life cherish able.

Being human means being able to learn from your mistakes, see in color, and falling in crying. We need to be able to learn, experience, and feel. Life has its ups and downs and we should have the right to know it. Shielding the people from all the negative things won't show them that they are living a great life. They need to see to know the difference and know what is better. The people in the community live in equality and that is something that is unable to be achieved in the real world. Equality will sure take away some of the drama but at the same time, it takes away competition for one to strive for the better.

2BR02B

In the short story 2BR02B by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., the future is portrayed as a perfect Utopian world. The world that the people lived in was long lived, and people were able to live for as long as they want, and the population was maintained at a certain number. Wehling was becoming a father of 3 children, but instead of being happy, he was worried. He had to find 3 volunteers in order for his children to live because the population has to be stabilized at 40 million. It would be unfair for the newborns to die just because the father was unable to find 3 volunteers. The babies are helpless and their fate is decided by their parents, and that is unfair. One should be in charge of their life, and babies, are humans too, they should have the opportunity to live life.

There is no such thing as a utopian society. The world works in a cycle and if technology is used to perfect the world, the cycle would be disrupted. Longevity can not exist or else the world would over populate and there will be no meaning to life if life doesn't have an ending. We must know the positive and negative side of something in order for us to cherish the better one. For example, we must know what death is for us to love life. We must know what sadness is to know what happiness feels like. Too much of something, may result negatively. The use of technology in this story was too much, that only messed up the whole cycle of death and life and it creates inequality for Mr. Wehlings, his wife, his children, and his father. The father ended up volunteering and losing his life for his grand children. The newborns would've been dead if the father hadn't kill himself and the two medical doctors.

The definition of human is to live happily but in 2BR02B, the parents were worried about their children's lives. If you're able to live forever, you're not considered to be human, you would be considered as immortal. Life has it's ups and downs, and that's something we need to learn to accept. It's part of living life. We need to experience two sides of something in order to differentiate which one is better for us. The people in 2BR02B are living life without a meaning, they have no limits and they just live for nothing.

One more year til it all comes true...

There is a rumor going around the world saying that the world will end in the year of 2012, and that is only a little more than a year from now. This movie portrays how corrupted our society is. Money determines the respect that is paid and the social class.

In the movie, there was a Germany guy who was quite wealthy. He was able to get on the undefeated ships that only could evacuate a certain amount of people due to shortages of the ships. Others were left for dead. He was able to get himself and his two kids on to the ship along with his expensive cars. This show's how our current society is unfair. We recognize money over the other things. Money was able to buy people their lives. That's now sad it was. The financially unfortunate people had no choice but waited for death to come upon them. Even the cars were more important than the people. The cars occupied a great amount of space. The movie not only showed the damages of the belief, but it revealed much more about current society. People who are rich are placed above the poor ones and people only recognize one another due to their financial status.

The 2012 movie, reveals the aftermath of December 21, 2012 but also how shallow current society is. We rather saves cars then people. We are selfish, and we would rather recognize money and save cars than people. People's lives are less important the cars. The cars can be remade if anything but once a person is gone, they're gone forever. Too bad society doesn't realize this, they realize what will benefit them and that is money. Too bad, money can't do much in a life and death situation. And the sad part is, we don't see this. We chose the cars over the people.

The Sad Future of Human Kind

In "Wall- E" is a film produced by Disney. Human kind of the future are portrayed as obese and lazy. In the future, with all the advances in technology, people will end up using it too much that they will depend on technology for everything. They'll sit in one spot, and let technology do it for them, and this contributes to their obesity.

Disney chooses to produce this film for children to educate them but also poke fun of the results of using too much technology and to show children what technology can cause. It is ridiculous how they can switch their clothes within a few seconds of hitting a button. It's absurd how that one human needs the robot's assistant to get back on the chair once he fell off. It's sad how we have to depend on robots for every little thing. One day, we'll probably forget how to do some of the things that technology is substituting, For example, with the use of the calculator, many students forget to do simple addition/subtraction without one. Technology sure does have a great affect on us, and probably a bigger effect on the future generations.

"Wall- E" depictions of the future shows that the present is currently heading in that direction, and will soon be like the movie. The discovery and inventions in technology is used to help make life easier, but at the same time, it shouldn't be used to the point where we can't do things ourselves. People in the movie overused technology, and became lazy and obese. The present should stop the over use of technology or else they'll OD on it and it could result negatively, as shown.

Real Steel Instead of Real Humans

"Real Steel" is a futuristic movie about technological advancements. Instead of humans fighting each other for money, robots are substituted. They are man made robots used to make money by fighting against an opponent with a robot. These  robots battle until death, and lose all their parts, and unable to function.

It's a brilliant idea to use robots in boxing rings instead of humans because it'll save humans from being injured. These robots should, and could be used in wars, it'll save a lot of innocent lives. Possibly, they'll be useful outside of boxing rings, and more towards warfare. The manufacturing of these robots will definitely trigger competition of building more and better technology. This is a way of using technology in a positive way, and helping out the world by saving lives. Human flesh is prized and preserved and it can be easily taken way, therefore we must treat our selves better, and use technology to save us from the pain. Our depictions of the future proves that our future will be clever and alter with the use of technology in a way that will benefit the world from war, and from unnecessary deaths. We need to minimize the the negative things that we do to our bodies because our lives are way too short to risk.

Humans Vs. Avatars .

Avatar is a movie about the future that was created in 2010. It was a success and is currently the number one movie in the world. Avatar is about humans invading Pandora, and destroying their homes for a type of rock that would sell for billions back on Earth. The Avatars and Humans fought a deadly battle. The Avatars fought to keep invaders out and for the humans, it was to find the rock.

In years from now, humans will be so advanced in technology that they will able to recreate an Avatar that looked exactly like them to trick them, gain their trust, and take the resources that will benefit us. This movie only proved humans to be selfish and deceiving. They destroyed homes, and killed many creatures and Avatars to obtain what they wished for. They didn't care about the other Avatars' needs, they only cared about the rock that would economically benefit them. The reasons for the Avatars to fight and the reasons for the humans to fight already shows whose mistaken in the situation. The Avatars are basically fighting for their freedom and their homeland, while humans fight for something that will sell for a lot on Earth. Our government shouldn't even allow us to do the things that were done on Pandora. They are just like another race but in a different world. We are causing war for unnecessary reasons.

If another country was to invade our land to steal our natural resources, we would fight and hate them for doing such a thing. But in Avatar, directors of the movie wanted to show humans how cruel and inconsiderate we are. They wanted to show us that we are hypocrites by reflecting humans actions and decisions in this movie so society can realize. They also want to depict the future as money hungry. The things that we do, are for money. It is ridiculous how we can kill a nation of another species for money. The depiction of the future only proves that the present is money hungry and hypocrites.
